    A report published this week by Nationwide suggests the period of very high house price inflation, that peaked in the spring, has now started to level out; with their analysis suggesting the average UK house price actually fell in August by 0.2%. However, the same report confirms that the annual rate of house price increase remains at 9.4%, and the average house price has now increased to £188,374 from £172,127 a year ago.
