You may have read in the weekend's press that the government has announced that First-time buyers under the age of 40 can now register to buy a new homes at a discount of up to 20% off the normal price. The offer is part of the governments new Starter homes scheme to encourage home ownership and construction on previously used brownfield land.
The National Association of Estate Agents reported that 73% of homes were sold for less than the asking price in January, in the same period last year 56% homes were sold for less than originally priced. This suggests that power may be returning to the buyers’ hands and they could be in a better position to negotiate.
