Who we are

Close Brothers Asset Management

We provide a complete financial planning and investment service to professionals, business owners, retirees and other high-net-worth individuals and multi-asset investment management to financial advisers, trustees, consultants, family offices and charities. Central to both propositions is our award-winning, institutional-quality investment capability.

We have specialised in managing client portfolios for over 40 years and our financial planning and investment team are supported by more than 550 staff, working from 8 offices across the UK.

About our advice

We provide an holistic financial advice service to individuals. Our investment process is unbiased, multi-asset, actively managed and diversified across regions and sectors. Because we primarily promote our own investment products, we are classed as providing restricted advice. However, we can also recommend investment offerings from other firms, without bias, based on our disciplined research and analysis process.

For professional intermediaries and advisers we understand the importance of thorough due diligence on any company that you work with. To help you meet your regulatory obligations to your clients, we will be delighted to provide either detailed answers to your own due diligence questionnaire or a full document of our own, tailored for our relationship with you and the services that are of interest. This includes but is not limited to:

  • Our strength and credit rating
  • Our team, their experience and areas of specialist expertise
  • Our investment philosophy and approach
  • The risk-graded design of our propositions
  • Business continuity processes
  • Legal and compliance processes
  • Our TCF culture

Corporate social responsibility

Across Close Brothers Group we are involved in and run a number of community and charity initiatives.

Throughout the year employees are involved in charitable activity for our nominated staff charity, Cancer Research UK, as well as a number of other worthy causes. The Close Brothers Matched Giving Scheme encourages staff to fundraise and volunteer by matching 50% of the funds raised, or donating £8 per hour of voluntary time given by employees.

Since 2013, the Group has also partnered with a primary school local to our London offices, where volunteers from the business spend their lunch breaks reading to children who are struggling or do not have the time to practise at home. A number of our staff take part in this scheme every year.

At Close Brothers Asset Management we run the pioneering Trustee Leadership Programme, in association with Cause 4. Employees and external participants attend a series of evening sessions to learn the skills and gain the confidence to join a charity as a board member. The Programme aims to bring young trustees onto charity boards, enabling the charities to benefit from fresh approaches and increased diversity of opinions.
